Powerline Technician

The Powerline Technician Training Program is a 14-week course designed to provide students with the basic skills needed to launch a career with Electrical Utilities and/or contractors in the areas of underground and overhead line work with an emphasis in safety. In addition, students earn certifications in First Aid/CPR, OSHA 10hr, Flagger Certification, Competent Person in Trenching and Excavation, and a Class A CDL Driver's License. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Emergency Medical Technician - Designed to train individuals to become emergency medical personnel, this course teaches patient assessment and basic life support techniques including airway management and CPR; hemorrhage control; oxygen administration; shock; bandaging and splinting; skull, spine, and chest injuries; child birthing; exposure to cold and heat; and transferring patients to medical facilities. Successful completion of this course allows the student to take the North Carolina and National EMT Registry exams. This course will follow the guidelines established by the North Carolina Office of EMS. The curriculum for the EMT educational program shall be the 1994 release of the United States Department of Transportation National Highway Traffic Safety Administration EMT-Basic Course: National Standard Curriculum and the Supplemental Airways Modules for EMT-Basic; NSC. Course Length: 264 hours (216 lecture hours, 48 clinical hours after successful completion of the didactic portion. Day and evening classes are available. Requirements: Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent OR reading comprehension placement score of at least 11th grade equivalency OR at least 17 years of age on or before the official end date of the course with a reading comprehension placement test score of 11th grade equivalency. Truck Driver Training

The Truck Driver Training program provides training in all aspects of the transportation industry. Topics covered include hours of service, trip planning, FMCSA rules and regulations, personal health and fitness as well as practical application (on road driving and backing maneuvers). After completion of the course, students will take the NCDMV CDL Test and if successfully passed, will obtain a Class A CDL license. Students will also obtain NCDOT Flagger Certification, AHA CPR Certification, and DOT Hazmat theory.
