This includes assisting supervisors and their staff in drawback offices by supporting brokers and prospective claimants through the claim processing stages and addressing routine questions. A key responsibility is the meticulous receipt, validation (including date/time stamping), and review of incoming mail/claims and documents to ensure they meet all regulatory requirements for completeness and compliance.The position also entails coordinating and entering information into automated systems, reconciling accounts, and resolving errors found in collection documents and error reports, often in collaboration with drawback specialists. This includes performing specialized queries to gather information on specific cases. Extensive data collection, record-keeping, and the preparation of daily and monthly work accomplishment reports, as well as port or Center monitoring activities, are integral to the role.Furthermore, the position supports final decision-makers by providing information that leads to the acceptance or rejection of drawback claims, based on document completeness and regulatory adherence. This involves identifying and assigning criteria for routine and repetitive claims according to established guidelines. Ensuring that regulatory requirements for the disposition of merchandise are met and rejecting any unacceptable documents, such as incomplete drawback claims, are also critical functions. The role also involves reviewing system-generated payment amounts for duties, taxes, and fees, verifying liquidation calculations, and making corrections to accelerated payments, liquidations, and re-liquidations as directed. Basic research into regulations concerning case processing procedures is also performed.The position assists officers, specialists, and supervisors by collecting, compiling, and maintaining data on program activities, preparing various reports, and conducting research to answer routine inquiries from the public. This includes handling telephonic and in-person requests for information and forms, and providing clerical support for copying and mailing case files.
