Completes repairs and adjustments in accordance with manufacturers' specification and service bulletins and ensures that vehicle systems (e.g., lighting systems, steering mechanisms, mechanical and hydraulic braking systems, and exhaust and related emission control systems) function inaccordance with safety regulations set by various regulatory agencies. Through work orders, manufacturers' specifications, and accepted trade practices, the incumbent troubleshoots, repairs, rebuilds, adjusts, and performs operational checks on a wide variety of major components and systems such as engines, transmissions, differentials and transaxles, electronic fuel injection systems, emission control systems, and related electrical, electronic, hydraulic, fuel, and other assemblies.Troubleshoots using visual inspections and auditory tests. Uses a wide variety of test equipment such as computerized engine analyzers, compression testers, test benches, multimeters, and special feeler and dial gauges in tracing hard-locate defects and problems. Aligns, meshes, and connects repaired units to related mechanisms (e.g., the engine and related clutch mechanism).
