Position: Veteran Services Office (VSO) Program AssociateOverview of VSO Operations: The VSO helps veterans and their dependents access Federal veterans benefits that they are entitled to by managing the entire claims process and advocating for veterans with various government agencies. Key Point: VSO employees are County Employees. While we are trained by and have access to the VA Claims system, we represent the veteran and not the VA. Typical programs that veterans access through the VSO include service-connected disability, war time pension, dependency and indemnity compensation, pension/life insurance, college fee waiver, discharge upgrades, records requests, VA home loans, VA health care, veteran designation, etc. This is an excellent role for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys variety, and wants to make an impact in the local community.

Overview of DPW Operations: The DPW plans, builds, operates, and maintains facilities and equipment throughout the county. Across five divisions, the department is responsible for the use and protection of natural resources, planning and maintenance of streets and roadways, the operation of two regional airports, and for 70 county facilities. The Office Assistant is responsible for fielding public and internal inquiries throughout the divisions, coordinating schedules, and providing customer service to San Mateo County residents and employees.
