Provides training in the skills and use of equipment necessary to fulfill the duties of the Warehouse Clerk position. The Knowledge and Skills requirements for this position are as follows: KNOWLEDGE: Require a working knowledge of, or the basic knowledge to learn to apply the principles related to, the duties of the position, including receiving and issuing materials and supplies, determining the materials required to make up construction units, keeping inventory records, compiling reports, and maintaining neat and orderly storage of materials and supplies. Require the willingness to pursue a continuous program of self-development both inside and outside of work hours in furthering his/her knowledge to develop in the job and accept increasing responsibilities.SKILLS: Require effective leadership skills, excellent professional communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work in a team environment. Require the ability to perform neat and accurate clerical work required by the duties of the position and according to schedules. Require the ability to meet and effectively communicate with member-consumers, sales representatives, the general public, and employees so as to stimulate goodwill and effective relations. Require the ability to organize work and make recommendations for the establishment of an effective warehousing system, including storage and control procedures. Over the course of the full 180-day program the Line Worker Intern will: 1. Learn the basics of transformer installation and operation. Learn the characteristics of three phase line operation. 2. Learn to install, move, or removes transformers, security lights, secondaries, service drops, circuit breakers, poles, conductors, capacitors, regulators, reclosers, and/or any other line equipment under direct supervision and when assigned. 3. Learn to install or remove instrument transformers, recording or indicating meters of all types, and learn to make load and voltage tests under direct supervision and when assigned. 4. Learn to patrol distribution lines; learn to operate and maintain related equipment; learn distribution switching, sectionalizing and fusing when assigned. 5. See that assigned trucks, tools, and working equipment are properly used and kept in good working order and that any required repairs are promptly reported to the Line Foreman or assigned Supervisor. 6. Learn modern methods to be able to perform first aid, artificial respiration and pole top rescue/resuscitation. 7. Study line worker manuals and other instructional guidelines to complete requirements outlined in the specifications for this position. 8. Is familiar with and follows the best safety practices set forth in the Cooperative's Safety Manual. 9. Perform other related work of this or any other classification requiring equal or lesser skill when assigned by the Line Foreman or other supervisor. You will have the opportunity to intern with the Residential Marketing Team and experience additional, specific skills training opportunities during the internship including BPI Building Analyst Training ($1,895 value), Energy Auditor Training and Sandler Sales Training. The training provided is specific to the Residential Energy Advisor position. A Residential Energy Advisor at Jackson EMC assists in the coordination, tracking, and implementation of marketing programs related to energy efficiency and energy management in the home, including member education, building member relations, and program engagement; promotes and sells the Cooperative’s programs, products, and services to residential customers and trade allies such as HVAC and insulation contractors, developers, and builders; communicates and participates in a team oriented environment in accordance with the mission and values of the Cooperative.
