You will work alongside industry experts and get true experience in the private sector. You will spend a little time in each department and then focus on a specialty based on your needs and the needs of the local Branch.
Summary DescriptionYou might be surprised by how rewarding a career can be in the private sector as an equipment repair technician. Our Skillbridge program focuses on introducing Service Members to what their lives could look like in the Heavy Equipment Industry after their service commitment is up. A technician in our industry typically works 0700 to 1500 each day, with weekends and evenings off. We service a huge variety of customers with an array of equipment ranging from small electric forklifts to full size excavators, warehouse scrubbers to telescopic skid steers. During the internship period, you will get hands on training and experience with all types of equipment. You will learn the ins and outs of how a heavy equipment dealership operates. We are not an enormous corporate entity. We are people focused, team oriented, and take pride in our work.
This position requires knowledge of general material handling equipment. Technician must be capable of trouble shooting and providing repairs while in the field on an as-needed basis. Good knowledge of parts and the ability to determine if a part needs to be replaced or repaired is essential. Ability to write clear job recommendations and descriptions as well as ensure all paperwork is completed and given to the service supervisor in a timely manner.

The training program will cover tire press operations, safety procedures, equipment maintenance, and quality assurance through a blend of classroom learning and practical, hands-on experience.

At the direction of the Service Advisor, you will efficiently perform periodic, routine maintenance services, safety inspections and simple repairs on lift trucks and other industrial equipment. Additionally, work assignments are expected to be completed in a safe and satisfactory manner, according to the needs of both the customer and Toyota Material Handling. The position also requires that you have good written, verbal, and organizational skills. You must also possess the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with customers. Our ideal candidate will live within a 30-mile radius of the territory they support.
