General Tool - Fabricator SkillBridge Program
Welds metal components together to fabricate products, parts, or equipment. Repairs products or parts by straightening or reshaping by use of mechanical means with assistance from others, and with or without the use of heat and/or hydraulic equipment.
Machine parts from various materials to customer specifications using multi-axis CNC milling/turning equipment. Work from blueprints, routed instructions, and manufacturing process plans to produce machined parts of basic geometric shapes. Perform set-ups, use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gages), and ensure parts meet quality standards. Ideal for candidates with mechanical aptitude, basic CNC shop experience or vocational training, and ability to interpret blueprints and technical documentation. Reports to Machine Shop Supervisor in a defense manufacturing environment with strict quality control standards.
Performs mechanical assembly work with varying degrees of complexity. Assembly procedures may involve adjusting, trimming and fitting parts to moderately close tolerances, working with parts or components which are difficult to handle and other skills which require good dexterity and facility in the use of a variety of hand tools.
