Summary description:
The EMS Medical Program Director (MPD) is responsible for overseeing all Basic Life Support (BLS) operations within the Fire District. This includes managing BLS medical personnel, developing and implementing EMS Protocols, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and leading the department's Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI) programs. The MPD will also develop and manage a Run Review Process to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of patient care during BLS EMS responses. Additionally, the director will design and implement Continuing Education (CE) programs for Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to ensure they stay up-to-date with the latest pre-hospital care practices. The director is also expected to attend Island County EMS Council meetings and participate in discussions to help improve EMS operations at a local level.

Upon successful completion of the program, the service member will receive:1. Certificate of Completion – Recognizing the completion of the South Whidbey Fire EMS Medical Program Director SkillBridge Training, specifically for BLS operations.2. QA/QI Program Development Training – Documented training in the development and implementation of QA/QI programs for BLS services.3. Run Review Process Development – Skills in creating a Run Review Process to assess EMS responses and improve operational efficiency.4. EMT Continuing Education Program Development – Experience in designing and implementing CE programs for EMTs to enhance their skills and knowledge.
