Overview of Proposed ProgramThe proposed program is a 13-week Assistant Project Manager (APM) SkillBridge Training Program consisting of 520 total training hours (40 hours per week). The program is designed to prepare transitioning service members for a career in construction project management through a combination of classroom instruction, online learning, project management software training, on-the-job training, mentorship, jobsite visits, and participation in project meetings and coordination activities.Position/Career Training Provided ForThe program provides training for the role of Assistant Project Manager (APM) within the construction industry. Participants will learn project administration, documentation management, contract administration, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, compliance management, financial support functions, risk management, client coordination, and project closeout procedures.Expected Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Upon AcceptanceParticipants should possess foundational professional skills that support success in a project management environment, including:• Strong communication and organizational abilities• Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn project management software• Ability to work in a team environment and interact professionally with clients, subcontractors, and vendors• Attention to detail and documentation accuracy• Interest in construction operations, project coordination, and leadership development• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesThese baseline skills allow participants to successfully complete the progressive training modules and hands-on project experiences included in the program. Based on the training plan, participants will build proficiency in project documentation, scheduling, compliance, financial tracking, coordination, and project administration.Program Length• Duration: 13 weeks• Schedule: 40 hours per week• Total Training Hours: 520 hours How Skills Learned Will Be MeasuredParticipant progress will be evaluated throughout the program using:• Completion of weekly training modules and learning objectives• Performance during on-the-job training assignments• Demonstration of proficiency in project management software and documentation processes• Mentor and supervisor evaluations• Participation in project meetings, coordination activities, and jobsite visits• Successful completion of the Integrated Project Management Practicum during Week 12• Final competency assessment and Role Readiness Evaluation during Week 13 demonstrating proficiency in core Assistant Project Manager responsibilities Expected Salary$75,000 - $90,000. Funding for TrainingThe SkillBridge training is funded by the participating employer and delivered through existing company resources, including employee mentors, project management systems, training materials, jobsite experiences, and supervisory support. During participation in the DoD SkillBridge program, service members generally continue receiving their military pay and benefits through the Department of Defense while completing training. Out-of-Pocket ExpensesParticipants are not expected to incur out-of-pocket costs for training materials, software access, mentorship, or instruction required to complete the program. Any standard travel requirements would be communicated in advance and handled in accordance with company and SkillBridge guidelines. Expected OutcomeUpon completing the program, participants will be prepared to independently perform the essential responsibilities of an Assistant Project Manager, including project administration, document control, scheduling support, subcontractor coordination, compliance tracking, financial reporting support, and project closeout activities.
