BioWorks: Process Technician

Gain the basic skills and general knowledge needed to begin a career as a Process Technician for a biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or chemical manufacturing company. A process technician operates, monitors, and controls the production process; receives, transports, and stores materials; collects and analyzes materials used in production; inspects and maintains the production equipment and control systems; keeps critical records on the process and product; and maintains company safety, health, and environmental standards. This course will also cover all aspects of the job search process, resume preparation, and interviewing practice. Lecture and assignments will be in-person and labs will be hands-on. 136 hours.

Craven Community College - Commercial Drivers License/Truck Driver Class A

Our 350-clock hour Commercial Driver License (CDL) program offers Class A options that will provide you with an excellent foundation for a truck driving career. You will be tested thoroughly on the road and through written exams to ensure that you have the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully and safely operate commercial vehicles. The program meets the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration standards of specialized training in the areas of driver qualification, hours of service, driver wellness, and whistleblower protection for entry-level drivers who are subject to the requirements (49 CFR Part 380). If you’re a new driver, you’ll receive training for the North Carolina State Commercial Truck Driving License examination. All training instruction is provided at school facilities and in school-provided equipment. Free practice tests are also available. The Class A CDL course provides training on inspecting and operating tractor-trailers and assuming driving responsibilities on the road. Emphasis is placed on vehicle inspections, defensive driving, range maneuvers, motor carrier safety regulations and certification, and trip planning.

Emergency Medical Technician

This course is designed for those with little to no medical background wanting to become an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Students receive classroom lectures, hands-on practical applications, work with state of the art training simulators and automated digitalized medical mannequins. Additionally, each student is required to work with a local Rescue Squad or with a local Fire Station that provides EMT services for a minimum of 48 hours. Upon completion of the program, the students can take the NC EMT Certification exam or the National Registry Certification exam to be licensed as a certified EMT.

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe Mechanic Preparatory Course

The 128-clock hour Aviation Maintenance course is designed to prepare individuals with civilian or military aviation experience for the Federal Aviation Certification of Air Frame Technician. Coupling classroom discussions and shop exercises, the individual will become competent in the Air Frame phase of Certification in FAA Regulated Aircraft Maintenance.In this short-term program, you will receive a review of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) learning statement guide for Airman Certification, along with hands-on practical skills review in preparation for the FAA written, oral, and practical exams. Course tuition provides you with textbooks, prep-ware, and exam fees. Exam fees are valid for up to 90 days after the last day of class. To pass the course, you must obtain certification; otherwise, your student record will reflect an incomplete status.
