GMV 1.1 Maintenance Training

This SkillBridge internship is a vehicle maintenance training program designed to transition service members into fully certified Ground Mobility Vehicle (GMV 1.1) Field Service Representative. Participants receive hands-on technical instruction across all major vehicle systems, culminating in a recognized maintainer certification.The program is structured into six progressive training phases:Phase 1 – Fundamentals, Safety & Documentation (Weeks 1–4): Shop safety, HAZMAT handling, technical manual interpretation, PMCS documentation, fluid systems, and basic electrical theory.Phase 2 – Engine, Fuel & Powertrain (Weeks 5–8): Engine PMCS, ECM/ECU diagnostics, fuel systems, transmission service, drivetrain, and axle maintenance.Phase 3 – Electrical, Communications & HVAC (Weeks 9–13): 24V electrical systems, CAN bus diagnostics, C4ISR integration, lighting, and HVAC maintenance.Phase 4 – Chassis, Suspension & Mobility (Weeks 14–17): Suspension, brake systems, steering, tire/wheel service, and Central Tire Inflation System (CTIS).Phase 5 – Tactical Body & Field Recovery (Weeks 18–20): Frame/body inspection, weapon mount maintenance, and winch/recovery systems.Phase 6 – Advanced Diagnostics & Final Certification (Weeks 21–24): Complex fault isolation, field-expedient repair scenarios, comprehensive PMCS, and a final written and practical capstone exam.The daily schedule runs 0800–1700 and includes briefings, lecture/theory blocks, and extended hands-on lab time.
