Selected interns will learn all duties, responsibilities, and expertise required of a Second-in-Command pilot in the UH-60A Blackhawk. The assigned duty station will be in the SIC (right seat) with possible orientation to the PIC (left seat) based upon available time and intern proficiency. With over 75 years of experience, Reeder Flying Service, Inc. is a recognized leader in the firefighting industry with multiple awarded federal and state government call-when-needed (CWN) and exclusive-use (EU) contracts.
UH-60A Second-in-Command (SIC) helicopter pilot duties during the USFS contract fire season. Overall learning objectives for the program is to introduce military pilots to the commercial utility helicopter industry. This includes the multiple uses and missions of the helicopter to include aerial firefighting, long line operations, seeding, agriculture, wildlife surveys, snow survey, powerline surveys, and many others. A two-week Initial company INDOC and orientation training will be conducted in Twin Falls, Idaho at the Company flight facility. The remainder of the training program will be conducted on the active fire contract by designated training captains. Schedule while on contract is based on a 12-ON / 12-Off rotation and enables interns to meet the 40-hour average workweek requirement. This schedule allows ample time to meet out-processing and military separation requirements without affecting the contract flight schedule. Transportation to and from the contract location is provided.
