Explore the mapThe United Association Veterans in Piping (UA VIP) Welding Program is a Department of Defense SkillBridge training opportunity designed to prepare transitioning active-duty service members for careers in the piping industry. Participants receive intensive, hands-on welding training focused on the skills, techniques, and industry standards used in the pipe trades.The program combines classroom instruction with practical shop training to help participants develop job-ready welding skills and prepare for a successful transition into civilian employment. Upon successful completion, participants may have the opportunity to pursue placement with a United Association local union and continue their career development through a registered apprenticeship in the pipe trades.
UA Apprentices gain hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and repairing piping and mechanical systems in residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional settings. Working alongside skilled professionals on active jobsites, apprentices learn industry best practices, including safety protocols, blueprint reading, code compliance, and modern installation techniques. Apprentices also participate in classroom training covering trade theory, math, science, and emerging technologies. UA apprentices earn competitive wages and benefits from day one, with pay increases as apprentices progress through their training.
