    Summary description:
    Vet S.T.E.P. (https://ny-creates.org/vetstep/) will provide servicemembers with access to hands on training, exposure to industry terminology and concepts prior to an immersive internship experience in a state of the art microelectronics manufacturing facility. The training was developed in conjunction with industry by assessing the Knowledge, Skill or Ability (KSA) needed for an equipment support technician or tool technician position. Topics introduced in the training include: Advanced Manufacturing and Semiconductor Manufacturing Practices, Pneumatics Technology, Basic Electronics & Programmable Logic Controllers, Vacuum Technology, Sensors and Mechatronics Diagnostic/Troubleshooting. Once accepted into the program, the candidate will choose from a variety of companies for their internship home. All of the companies are familiar with the training and consider it invaluable preparation for a productive, positive internship experience.

    To address America’s microchip shortage, the microelectronics industry is ramping up production. CHIPS ACT (http://tinyurl.com/CHIPS-ACT) There will be a strong demand for technicians to work in the highly automated facilities. This program prepares technicians to work in the whole semiconductor ecosystem from fabs (where the chips are made) to equipment makers and materials suppliers.
