The Military Ocean Terminal is a highly restricted Army Installation responsible for managing assets of National Security importance. Guards at these locations must be trained in a variety of security competencies such as waterside security and patrol boat operations, vehicle patrol operations, rail security, ammunition security, access control security, static patrol security, port security and be able to use a variety of state of the art physical security equipment to protect MOT national security assets from all threats to include waterborne, vehicle-borne, rail-borne and airborne to include drone technology. DASGs are a key asset in the US Army’s Physical Security Program that include multiple security components that complement each other to produce a comprehensive approach to security matters, including physical security plans, risk analysis, inspections and surveys.
Job description:
Duties-Control access of vehicles, pedestrians, boats, rail cars and aircraft/drone access to the terminal.-Perform badge spot checks, random vehicle inspections of incoming and out-going containers/equipment.-Respond to emergency situations.-Guard and protect Federally owned property, buildings and equipment.-Conduct rudimentary inquiries and interview witnesses/suspects of violations.-Perform security guard duties in accordance with appropriate regulations.-Enforce the security and safety regulations of the terminal.
The installation is located near the city of Southport, North Carolina. It is situated between Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Wilmington, North Carolina, both within about a one-hour drive. The community of Southport-Oak Island is a small resort area, comprised of six municipalities, including the towns of Southport, Caswell Beach, Oak Island (Long Beach and Yaupon Beach), St. James, Boiling Spring Lakes, and the Village of Bald Head Island. The climate is ideal for year-round activities. No public transportation. MOTSU is closed/restricted installation.
