A Field Technician completes field surveys under the direction of the Party Chief. Interns are introduced to a wide variety of tasks and receive training based on their existing experience and needs. Interns work closely with experienced professionals to build skills in different types of surveying.

During the program, interns can expect to be exposed to project tasks including, but not limited to, those listed below. Interns will work closely with experienced professionals, gaining independence on tasks they satisfactorily complete as their experience increases. - Ensure proper care and cleaning of surveying tools and equipment and report any damage, malfunction, or excessive wear to Survey Party Chief immediately. - Ensure proper use of safety equipment and safety procedures are followed. - Ensure surveying vehicle is stocked with materials and equipment needed for work assigned and report any damage, malfunction, or excessive wear to Survey Party Chief immediately. - Follow directions of Survey Party Chief to ensure correct and efficient survey completion. - Follow and comply with Lamp Rynearson field procedures and standards. - Under the direction of the Survey Party Chief, perform all facets of surveying, including instrument set up, data collection, and construction staking. - Assist the Survey Party Chief in making field notes, creating sketches, and downloading field data when requested. - Depending on weather conditions and project workload, interns may also gain exposure to GIS, data processing, and CADD.
