Baker Construction’s SkillBridge Program provides transitioning service members with a structured 16-week training and on-the-job experience in the concrete construction industry. The program combines classroom learning, hands-on boot camp training, and mentored field assignments at active project sites in the DMV area. Participants will gain exposure to trade skills, project engineering, safety, supervision, and other career paths, with the opportunity to receive a full-time employment offer upon successful completion.
Job description:
Participants will be immersed in Baker’s operations through a blended model of classroom instruction and on-the-job training. Training begins with a one-week boot camp at the Ashburn, VA Training Facility, followed by field assignments with experienced mentors. Over the course of the program, service members will rotate through core skill areas including laborer, carpenter, field engineer, and place/finish to build a baseline of construction skills. Additional classroom modules will cover safety, construction math, blueprint reading, layout, and quality practices. Career paths within Baker include Carpentry Journeyman, Skilled Labor, Concrete Finisher, Field Engineering, Project Engineering/Management, Field Supervision, Safety Leadership, BIM Detailing, Estimating, and Quality Assurance.At the conclusion of the program, recruits will complete a review board and may be extended a full-time employment offer aligned with their interests and demonstrated strengths.
This program is designed for transitioning service members only. Participants must be within 180 days of separation, command-approved to participate, and available for training in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia region. Training is full-time, in person, and provided at no cost to the service member.
