Virginia SkillBridge Program
The Department of Veterans Services (DVS) SkillBridge Program provides transitioning service members with hands-on experience in public-sector veteran support services. Participants receive structured training across multiple functional areas within the department, allowing them to develop professional skills in veteran advocacy, case management, workforce development, education services, program coordination, and public administration.The program begins with an overview of DVS operations, veteran populations, and service delivery models, followed by placement within a specialized section based on the service member’s interests and career goals. Through supervised training, job shadowing, and project-based learning, participants gain practical experience supporting veterans while building transferable skills applicable to state government, nonprofit, and workforce development careers.
