Summary description:
The Nurse Residency Program (NPR) provides a framework for a successful transition to a professional nurse by promoting educational and personal advancement. The NRP will provide participants with a unique educational opportunity to gain valuable clinical experience in geriatric nursing provided in an assisted living and/or long-term care facility. Participants will be considered integral members of the interdisciplinary health care team and will work directly alongside the nurses at our facilities.
Job description:
The Intern - Registered Nurse, RN will assist the Charge Nurse in assigned Health Care Center to plan, organize, develop, and direct day-to-day operations. Participate in the assessment of resident needs and the development and coordination of resident care plans. Perform those nursing procedures requiring Registered Nurse designation, as well as some managerial tasks, with a customer service focus. Perform procedures to include the following in accordance with Blue Skies policies and generally accepted nursing practices: medication administration and recording; administer oxygen; insert and irrigate Foley catheters; provide tracheotomy care; perform Heimlich maneuver; provide decubitus assessment and care; perform gastrostomy tube procedures; perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR); utilize Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
