Accountant -- Responsible for ensuring the financial integrity, compliance, and operational accuracy of the Federal Crop Insurance Program. Monitors and validates financial activity related to premiums, indemnities (loss payments), Administrative & Operating (A&O) reimbursements, reinsurance payments, underwriting gains/losses, and CAT fees and service fee flows.
Job description:
Ensures these financial streams are recorded and reported accurately. Designs, reviews, and tests internal controls to ensure proper use of Federal funds, compliance with OMB Circulars, federal accounting standards, and the Federal Crop Insurance Act, proper documentation and evidence trails, and prevention of fraud, waste, and misuse. Works alongside Compliance, Chief Financial Officer, and Office of Inspector General on audits and reviews. Ensures the financial integrity of the Federal Crop Insurance Program through analysis, oversight, compliance, reporting, and collaboration. Works across the agency to make sure billions in federal insurance funds are handled accurately, legally, and transparently.
