The Expeditionary Electrician serves as the critical backbone of electrical power infrastructure and distribution across the Nine Mile Training Center (9MTC) range complex. The Expeditionary Electrician installs, maintains, and repairs high and low voltage electrical systems, power distribution networks, and generation equipment, ensuring that all training facilities, test ranges, and operational areas maintain uninterrupted electrical readiness. Primary duties include electrical systems installation and maintenance, power generation operations and sustainment, preventive maintenance execution, fault diagnosis and troubleshooting, NFPA 70E and NEC compliance enforcement, and accurate maintenance records and readiness reporting. This position is specifically suited for candidates with a background as a Navy Seabee Construction Electrician (CE) or Air Force RED HORSE Electrical Systems specialist (AFSC 3E0X1/3E0X2).
Job description:
Program Onboarding & Range Orientation - Understand range mission, safety expectations, systems layout, and required access. Electrical Safety & Compliance Fundamentals - Apply NFPA 70E, OSHA, PPE, LOTO, and baseline reporting requirements. National Electrical Code (NEC) Foundations - Interpret NEC requirements for range electrical installation and maintenance. Electrical Schematics & Wiring Diagrams - Read and apply schematics, one-line diagrams, and wiring layouts. Low Voltage Systems – Theory & Installation - Understand low voltage components, circuit protection, and installation standards. Low Voltage Systems – Applied Maintenance & Repair - Inspect, test, and repair low voltage wiring, panels, breakers, and lighting. High Voltage Distribution Systems - Understand high voltage equipment, distribution systems, and safety protocols. High Voltage Systems – Applied Operations - Perform supervised high voltage inspection, testing, switching, and clearance procedures. Power Generation Systems – Theory & Operations - Understand generators, ATS, paralleling systems, and UPS operations. Power Generation Systems – Applied Maintenance - Perform generator maintenance, load testing, fault diagnosis, and repair. Electrical Fault Diagnosis & Diagnostic Equipment - Use diagnostic tools to identify and resolve electrical system faults. Expeditionary Electrical Construction & Bare Base Ops - Apply temporary power distribution, field wiring, and generator hook-up standards. NFPA 70E & Journeyman Electrician Alignment (Part I) - Map daily electrical work to safety standards and licensing domains. NFPA 70E & Journeyman Electrician Alignment (Part II) - Strengthen electrical theory, code compliance, and safety competency. Credential Preparation & Practice-Based Learning - Complete credential prep, practice assessments, and scenario-based maintenance tasks. Electrical Systems Management & Records Sprint - Lead supervised readiness cycles, repairs, parts coordination, and documentation. Capstone: Integrated Electrical Systems Support Event - Support an integrated electrical maintenance, installation, and compliance event. Final Assessment & Transition Readiness - Complete final evaluation, deliverables, lessons learned, and transition planning.
