In the Farmers Insurance – Insurance Sales & Agency Operations SkillBridge internship, participants will gain hands‑on experience in insurance licensing, sales fundamentals, client relationship development, and the foundational operational workflows of a Farmers agency. During this 18‑week program, delivered in‑person, hybrid, or fully remote across the state of Iowa, interns follow a structured occupational training plan that includes dual Iowa insurance licensing (Property & Casualty; Life & Health), product and compliance coursework through the University of Farmers, supervised quoting and CRM system training, structured sales‑process role‑plays, marketing or recruiting specialization modules, community engagement planning, lead‑management practice, and agency branding and outreach development.Interns receive weekly mentor‑guided coaching, complete practical exercises in client/candidate communications, participate in observed sales or recruiting simulations, and develop an ownership‑oriented capstone project such as a Marketing Plan or Recruiting Strategy designed to serve as a foundational section of a future agency business plan. Throughout the internship, participants gain exposure to the operational components of running a Farmers agency—including retention practices, compliant communication standards, workflow organization, basic financial concepts, local prospecting methods, and customer‑service expectations. This program prepares transitioning service members for licensed insurance sales roles, agency operations support positions, and long‑term advancement into Farmers agency ownership pathways. The SkillBridge experience leverages the discipline, communication skills, and leadership qualities of service members while providing real‑world insurance industry training, professional development, dual licensure, and a clear pathway into competitive civilian employment within Iowa’s Farmers Insurance agency network.
