This SkillBridge opportunity provides transitioning service members with structured, hands-on training in heavy civil construction management within a real-world field environment. Participants will work directly with experienced Superintendents and Project Managers on active job sites, gaining practical experience in site development, underground utility installation (sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and watermain), earthwork operations, grading, and paving coordination.Participants will assist in daily field operations including crew coordination, safety enforcement in accordance with OSHA and MIOSHA standards, production tracking, and quality control. Training includes exposure to blueprint reading, construction plan interpretation, and the use of construction technology such as Trimble GPS systems, pipe lasers, and slope lasers for layout and grade control.This structured 120-day program is designed to develop future field leaders by combining technical construction knowledge with leadership development, communication, and problem-solving skills. Participants will gain experience working in a fast-paced, team-oriented construction environment while learning how to support project execution, coordinate with subcontractors, and contribute to overall jobsite performance.Upon completion, participants will be prepared to transition into civilian roles as Assistant Commercial Civil Superintendents or similar field leadership positions, with a defined career pathway into Superintendent and Project Management roles within the heavy civil construction industry.
