The Medical Laboratory Technician SkillBridge Training Program is a 12-week structured training experience designed to prepare transitioning service members for civilian laboratory careers. The program begins with general orientation, mandatory education, job shadowing, and administrative preparation. Participants then complete supervised new-hire style OJT, a midpoint check-in with career assistance, and advanced OJT with increasing independence. The final week includes a readiness assessment, application support, interview preparation, and transition planning.Participants gain exposure to laboratory safety, specimen workflow, quality control, documentation, communication, prioritization, and professional expectations in a healthcare laboratory setting. Training is conducted under appropriate supervision and in accordance with employer policy, SkillBridge requirements, laboratory safety standards, and applicable certification or licensure rules.Participants who successfully complete the program may be considered for open positions based on business needs, qualifications, licensure/certification status, and performance during the program.
