Provides training in the skills and use of equipment necessary to fulfill the duties of the Warehouse Clerk position. Over the course of the full 180-day program the Line Worker Intern will: 1. Learn the basics of transformer installation and operation. Learn the characteristics of three phase line operation. 2. Learn to install, move, or removes transformers, security lights, secondaries, service drops, circuit breakers, poles, conductors, capacitors, regulators, reclosers, and/or any other line equipment under direct supervision and when assigned. 3. Learn to install or remove instrument transformers, recording or indicating meters of all types, and learn to make load and voltage tests under direct supervision and when assigned. 4. Learn to patrol distribution lines; learn to operate and maintain related equipment; learn distribution switching, sectionalizing and fusing when assigned. 5. See that assigned trucks, tools, and working equipment are properly used and kept in good working order and that any required repairs are promptly reported to the Line Foreman or assigned Supervisor. 6. Learn modern methods to be able to perform first aid, artificial respiration and pole top rescue/resuscitation. 7. Study line worker manuals and other instructional guidelines to complete requirements outlined in the specifications for this position. 8. Is familiar with and follows the best safety practices set forth in the Cooperative's Safety Manual. 9. Perform other related work of this or any other classification requiring equal or lesser skill when assigned by the Line Foreman or other supervisor. You will have the opportunity to intern with the Residential Marketing Team and experience additional, specific skills training opportunities during the internship including BPI Building Analyst Training ($1,895 value), Energy Auditor Training and Sandler Sales Training. The training provided is specific to the Residential Energy Advisor position. A Residential Energy Advisor at Jackson EMC assists in the coordination, tracking, and implementation of marketing programs related to energy efficiency and energy management in the home, including member education, building member relations, and program engagement; promotes and sells the Cooperative’s programs, products, and services to residential customers and trade allies such as HVAC and insulation contractors, developers, and builders; communicates and participates in a team oriented environment in accordance with the mission and values of the Cooperative.

Over the course of the full 180-day program the Operational Technology Intern will: 1. Learn the basics of processes and procedures in Operational Technology and rotate among Telecommunication, Distribution Management Systems, Apparatus and Metering. Train in Operational Technology roles including the Apparatus Technician, Metering Technician, and SCADA Technician, and learn to operate and maintain related equipment. In addition to the rotation through the departments within Operational Technology, the intern will learn the basics of Electric Transmission and Distribution Systems, Basic concepts of Electricity, Alternating Current Fundamentals, Multimeter Operation, Introduction to Metering, Safety in Meter Work, Setting a Three Wire and Four Wire Meter, Replacing RD or R4 351R Relay Cube, Relay Programming, Changing our R2 351R Relay Cube and Fundamental of Telecommunications. See that tools and working equipment are properly used and kept in good working order and that any required repairs are promptly reported to the assigned Supervisor. Learn modern methods of fire safety and to be able to perform first aid and artificial respiration. Study and review other instructional guidelines to complete educational requirements/modules for the first six months outlined in the specifications for this position. Be familiar with and follow the best safety practices set forth in the Cooperative's Safety Manual. Perform other related work of this or any other classification requiring equal or lesser skill when assigned by the supervisor.
