North Carolina Biotechnology Center (NCBiotech)

The service member will receive focused training to become a skilled technician by gaining industry knowledge in areas such as Fermentation, Purification, Media Preparation, Buffer Preparation, or other assigned processes in the production area. The Track I Intern will gain significant knowledge in aspects of Operations Support processes utilizing current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) performing all aspects of GMP facility sanitization within the manufacturing areas. Internship report hours/days will be determined based on assignment not to exceed 40 internship hours per week.

A Calibration Technician (also titled Maintenance Associate) in the life sciences manufacturing industry ensures the accuracy and reliability of critical instruments and equipment used in the production of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology products, and medical devices. This role is essential for maintaining compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), FDA regulations, and ISO standards, ensuring product quality and patient safety. Calibration Technicians work in controlled environments such as biopharmaceutical production facilities, vaccine manufacturing plants, and laboratories, supporting the precision and efficiency of operations.
