The Electrical Lineworker Training Program is a 10-week course designed to prepare you for a challenging, interesting, and HIGH PAYING career as an electrical lineman. At the CFCC Electrical Lineworker Training Program you will learn the skills and knowledge required of an apprentice lineman: Setting & climbing poles; Installing cross arms, hardware, lines & transformers; Using tools & equipment of the trade through field experience; Overhead & underground construction practices; Electric theory & practice; Safety and teamwork; Commercial driving
Cape Fear Community College - Truck Driver Training
Truck Driver Training prepares individuals to drive tractor-trailer rigs. This program teaches proper driving procedures, safe driver responsibility, commercial motor vehicle laws and regulations, and the basic principles and practices for operating commercial vehicles. The coursework includes motor vehicle laws and regulations, map reading, vehicle maintenance, safety procedures, daily logs, defensive driving, freight handling, security, and fire protection. Highway driving, training range exercises, and classroom lectures are used to develop the student's knowledge and skills. Graduates of the curriculum are qualified to take the Commercial Driver's License Exam and gain employment with commercial trucking firms. Cape Fear Community College - Emergency Medical Technician
The program prepares students to become competent entry-level Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), Advanced EMTs, and Paramedics. Students have classroom, online and clinical rotation hours to complete for each class.
Cape Fear Community College - Detention Officer Certification Course (DOCC)
Who Should Attend: All persons who are employed as detention officers at local confinement facilities and are required by the Sheriffs' Education and Training Standards Commission or the Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission to successfully complete this course. Course Objectives: The student will be able to: -Supervise inmates providing safety, security, meals, proper sanitation and medical care. -Respond to medical emergencies within the facility. -Search incoming and resident prisoners. -Search a cell block and general areas. -Apply information of a prisoner's legal and constitutional rights to administrative operation of the detention facility, composition of disciplinary sanctions, use of force and civil liability to officers. -Identify and cope with stressful situations. -Maintain personal and detention facility security. -Deal effectively with inmates. -Process incoming prisoners. -Transport prisoners safely. -Profile characteristics of a potential suicide. -Respond to inmates in crisis situations. -Develop the ability to respond to a physical attack to ensure the safety of officers and inmates. -Develop and implement emergency plans. -Properly demonstrate the use of fire equipment.
Cape Fear Community College - Telecommunicator Certification Course
Who Should Attend: All telecommunicators (sheriffs, police, emergency service centers, highway patrol, etc.) who are employed by or sponsored by an emergency service center. All persons who are employed as telecommunicators under the direct supervision of a sheriff's office are required by the North Carolina Sheriffs' Education and Training Standards Commission to enroll and successfully complete the course. This requirement excludes all telecommunicators that are grandfathered. Course Goals: To present the basic standard operating procedures for telecommunicators and to develop the role and responsibilities of the emergency service telecommunicator. Methodologies: The course employs lecture, discussion, demonstration and practical exercises. Course Requirements: Attendance is required at all class sessions. All practical exercises must be satisfactorily completed and a minimum score of 70% must be achieved on the final Commission-administered written exam. All students confirmed for this course are required to provide a completed Medical History Statement (F-1) and Medical Examination Report (F-2), unless they have been grandfathered by the NC Sheriffs' Education and Training Standards Commission.
Cape Fear Community College - Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET)
Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) is designed to give students essential skills required for entry-level employment as law enforcement officers with state, county, or municipal governments, or with private enterprises. This program utilizes state commission-mandated topics and methods of instruction. General subjects include, but are not limited to, criminal investigation, juvenile laws, civil process, law enforcement driver training, ABC laws, motor vehicle laws, patrol techniques, court procedures, emergency responses, and ethics and community relations. Students must successfully complete and pass all units of study to receive a certificate. Upon successful passage of the certification examination mandated by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission and the North Carolina Sheriffs' Education and Training Standards Commission, students may seek job opportunities with state, county, and municipal governments in North Carolina. In addition, knowledge, skills, and abilities acquired in this course of study qualify individuals for job opportunities with private enterprises in such areas as industrial, retail, and private security.
Cape Fear Community College - Fiber Optic Cable Installer
Prepare for a challenging, high-paying career as a telecommunications/network cable installer or technician with this 8-week program! You'll learn the basic skills and knowledge required of an entry-level installer/technician: - Fundamental principles of cabling for both copper and fiber optic systems -Standards and codes for telecommunications, transmission principles, installation, termination, testing, retrofitting, pathways and spaces, grounding, bonding and protection, fire stopping, and life safety and field coordination. -Operation of industry-related equipment (bucket truck, mini-excavator, etc). WHAT YOU GET - Training to become an entry-level cable installer. -Academic and field skills necessary for entry-level workers. -On-the-job safety training. -Training in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), confined spaces, CPR/First Aid/AED, Flagger, and OSHA 10 safety. Students may also obtain their Class-A Commercial Driver's License (with an automatic restriction). -Resume and job interview assistance are available. -Job placement assistance is available.
