We provide testing and commissioning services to clients primarily in the data center industry. The services we provide are typically during the construction phase of a new data center. Because of this, the start and end times of our days can vary. However, for the purposes of this program, we will have the service member interns work as close to a standard 8 AM to 5 PM schedule as possible with the clear directive that they should not work more than 40 hours per week. Our internships begin with a 2-day orientation that is completed in our Atlanta, GA, office. This is followed by a series of online training courses that can be completed remotely wherever is convenient for the intern. Once the courses have been completed, which typically takes two weeks, the interns work under the direct leadership of our experienced Testing and Commissioning Agents who will teach them electrical testing and commissioning processes and allow them the opportunity to work towards mastery of these skills during on-the-job training. This on-the-job training starts no later than week 3 and runs through the conclusion of the internship program. Every other week, the Employee Development Director checks in with interns to ensure that they are progressing successfully and to see if they need any support. Additionally, the Employee Development Director connects with the supervising Testing and Commissioning Agents to ascertain whether the interns are progressing successfully in their internships. To help the interns track their progress, they are provided with core competency books (CCBs) on their first day. These books outline all knowledge and skills required of experienced Electrical Testing and Commissioning Agents. Because these books are very detailed and quite comprehensive, interns will not have the opportunity within the internship period to learn everything; however, they will be able to track their progress and, if hired after the internship period, continue to develop and track their skillsets in this field. We have found these books to be very helpful in both onboarding and initial training as well as ongoing professional development.
