Phase 1 (Weeks 1-6) – Overview i. Meet mentor. ii. Obtain badges, parking pass, computer, and computer access needed to perform daily duties. iii. Complete mandatory training. iv. Review and become familiar with assigned code’s products (TWDs, system drawings, technical guidance (manuals, tests, etc.)). v. Visit production shops and EPD Divisions and codes and learn their general responsibilities. vi. Perform trouble desk shadowing/shop embedding. vii. If available complete Job Summary and TGI training. Learning Objective: Develop an understanding of the code’s mission and products. Instructional Model: Shadow, observation, hands-on, computer based and in person training. POC: Code supervisor Phase 2 (Weeks 7-13) – Overview i. Navigate new computer programs ii. Learn where and how to find technical guidelines. iii. Learn about waivers, DFSs, and test specifications. iv. Meet CHENGs. v. Learn about Technical Authority. vi. Learn how to use the technical guidance to write a TWD. vii. Learn how to use the technical guidance to ship check. Learning Objective: Develop an understanding of the code’s daily tasks and the criteria needed to develop the code’s product. Instructional Model: Shadow, observation, hands-on, computer based and in person training. POC: Code supervisor Phase 3 (Weeks 14-26) – Overview - Additional on the Job Training (OJT) Not Mandatory for applicants in the SkillBridge Program for less than 180 days i. Develop Waterfront and Planning Yard products - Job Summaries, Task Group Instructions (TGIs), Deficiency Logs (DLs), Deficiency Reports (DRs), Drawing Development ii. Develop Waterfront and Planning Yard correspondences. iii. Perform ship checks. Learning Objective: Develop an understanding of the code’s daily tasks and the criteria needed to develop the code’s product. Instructional Model: Shadow, observation, hands-on, computer based and in person training. Develop an understanding of various types of correspondences and how their respective code communicates data, non-conformances, and general information. POC: Code supervisor
