The Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic serves as the essential backbone of ground vehicle readiness and operational capability at Nine Mile Training Center (9MTC). The Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic oversees the maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of a diverse fleet of tactical and commercial wheeled vehicles, ensuring all ground mobility assets are mission-ready and meet stringent safety and operational standards. Primary duties include performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, executing Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS), diagnosing mechanical and electrical system faults, coordinating repair parts requisition and accountability, enforcing safety and regulatory compliance, and maintaining accurate maintenance records and readiness reporting.

Program Onboarding & Range Orientation: Understand the organization, range mission, shop layout, safety basics, and systems access Safety Protocols & Compliance Fundamentals: Apply shop safety, OSHA fundamentals, PPE requirements, hazard identification, and reporting expectations Tool Accountability & Shop Operations: Use tool control, technical manuals, work orders, and maintenance tracking systems appropriately Preventive Maintenance Checks & Services (PMCS): Perform PMCS, document faults, and record corrective actions per technical manuals Diesel Engine Systems – Theory & Diagnosis: Explain diesel engine components, operating principles, and diagnostic procedures Diesel Engine Systems – Applied Repair: Perform supervised engine diagnostics, corrective maintenance, and return-to-service inspections Drivetrain & Transmission Systems: Inspect, diagnose, and repair transmissions, differentials, transfer cases, and driveshafts Brake & Suspension Systems: Maintain and repair air/hydraulic brake systems and suspension components Electrical & Charging Systems: Diagnose and repair batteries, charging systems, starting circuits, lighting, and wiring Hydraulic Systems Maintenance: Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic cylinders, pumps, hoses, and control valves Cooling & Fuel Systems: Diagnose and repair cooling, fuel delivery, and emissions-related components Fleet Readiness & Parts Coordination: Coordinate parts requisition, inventory accountability, and supply support for maintenance operations ASE T-Series Alignment (Part I) – Engines & Drivetrain: Connect maintenance tasks to ASE T1/T2/T3 domains through study and documentation ASE T-Series Alignment (Part II) – Brakes, Electrical & HVAC: Build applied competency across ASE T4/T5/T6/T7 domains ASE Preparation & Practice-Based Learning: Complete guided ASE preparation, practice assessments, and scenario-based maintenance application Maintenance Management & Records Sprint: Lead a supervised readiness cycle from fault identification through repair documentation Capstone: Integrated Fleet Maintenance Event: Support or lead PMCS, diagnostics, corrective action, and readiness reporting during a maintenance event Final Assessment & Transition Readiness: Complete final evaluation, lessons learned, deliverables, and transition planning
