The SkillBridge Intern - Adjuster will learn to handle losses and claims for property and casualty insurers. The intern Adjuster will work closely with Sedgwick colleagues in resolving claims by determining coverage and investigating and evaluating losses.
Job description:
• Partners closely with a mentor to build professional relationships, learns the procedures of being an insurance adjuster, and meets production goals and metrics. • Under supervision, examines insurance policies and other records to determine insurance coverage.• Interviews, telephones, and/or corresponds with claimant and witnesses regarding claim.• Estimates cost of repair, replacement, or compensation.• Assists in preparing loss experience report to help determine profitability and calculates adequate future rates (reserves).• Revises case reserves in assigned claims files to cover probable costs.• Prepares report of findings which results in negotiations of settlements with claimant.• Consults police and hospital records and inspects property damage to determine extent of company's liability and varying methods of investigation according to type of insurance as directed.
