The 12-week program provides Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) Systems Certification in the web-based Get Ahead Program. Heavy Duty Truck Systems - Weeks 1 & 2: Introduction of DTNA Connect and service info, Brakes, Clutch, Air System, Wheel End, Power Steering, Suspension, Truck Side PM, DOT Electrical Troubleshooting - Weeks 3 & 4: 12 volt electrical theory, multi-meter use, voltage drop, amperage & resistance checks, charging & starting system, troubleshooting using approved DTNA tools. Electronic Systems - Weeks 5 & 6: Introduction to sensor operation such as: position, pressure, temperature, variable resistor, resistive ladder, potentiometer, pull up, pull down circuits, AC signal generator, Hall-Effect, FET. ECM operation, datalink overview & troubleshooting, fault codes. Introduction to Diagnostic Link software and troubleshooting fault codes on truck side. HVAC - Weeks 7 & 8: HVAC theory, HVAC component overview, use of AC machine, leak detection, compressor oil balancing, HVAC control strategies, troubleshooting, 609 A/C certification. Diesel Engine Theory & Component Overview - Weeks 9 & 10: Basic operation, overview of coolant, fuel, lube system. Introduction of Power Service Literature, PM & intervals as outlined in DTNA literature. Tear down and inspection of classroom engine using proper service procedures and tooling. DD Basic Diagnostics - Week 11: Overview of engine side diagnostic troubleshooting using DTNA required tooling and software. Diagnosing symptom and fault based complaints. Fuel & After Treatment - Week 12: Overview of fuel system and after treatment theory & strategy. Timeline of EPA levels for heavy duty trucks, component overview operation & familiarization of EPA 07 - GHG17 emissions levels. Troubleshooting common fuel system & after treatment complaints utilizing DTNA required tooling & software.
    Job description:
    Diesel service technician/mechanic which is responsible for: (1) Troubleshooting and diagnosing complaints without any assistance. (2) Repair and installation of truck/engine equipment. (3) The completion of jobs assigned within the departmental established time frame.(4) Performing assigned jobs and maintaining a level of 98% return - free work. (5) The pickup and delivery of service related items and/or customer vehicles. (6) Reporting any problems and/or concerns within the service environment to the Service Manager and/or Assistant Service Manager.(7) Attending training classes as required. (8) Study shop/service materials and manuals as they relate to your job. (9) performing all other duties as assigned.

    Eligibility factors:
    All Services
    (1) Anticipate an 'Honorable' discharge; no flags, or personnel actions. (2) Possess a High School credential; Diploma or GED. (3) ASVAB line scores of: MM92+, or MM score of 87 and a GT score of 85 minimum. (4) A clean, insurable Motor Vehicle Record for all states licensed. (5) Commander support letter; military member must provide letter from Commander dedicating the military member to training five days a week for 12 consecutive weeks. (6) Able to endure prolonged standing, bending, and lift up to 75lbs. (7) Mechanical/Electrical Acumen requirement: Complete the PTG placement assessment test. (8) Have the desire to be a team player and have excellent personal appearance with a positive professional attitude and very good interpersonal skills. (9) Have an updated resume for the interview. (10) Be willing and capable to accept employment at a PTG Service Center within 90 days of graduation or separation from the military. Be willing to relocate, if necessary, to accept employment for 1 year or more.
