The team is responsible for administering servers, workstations, virtual infrastructure, and core directory, messaging, and collaboration services that enable day‑to‑day mission operations.
Job description:
We’re looking for a mission-driven self-starter to help keep the AFIN infrastructure, including servers, virtual infrastructure, and core directory, messaging, and storage services running at peak performance — safeguarding the AFIN for warfighters. In this role you’ll install, secure, monitor, and tune systems that thousands of users rely on every day. When issues arise, you’ll troubleshoot quickly, apply patches, and refine automation scripts so tomorrow’s shift inherits an even more resilient environment.Typical job functions include:• Administering Windows & Linux servers in on-prem and virtual clusters, applying STIG-compliant baselines and hardening checklists.• Managing Active Directory account lifecycles and Group Policy to enforce least-privilege access across mission systems.• Coordinating monthly vulnerability scans and patch deployments, documenting compliance in VMS/ACT dashboards.• Monitoring system health and capacity with SolarWinds, NetCool, and native hypervisor tools, tuning alerts to minimize false positives.• Executing backup, snapshot, and disaster-recovery drills for virtual machines and SAN volumes to meet 99.8 % availability goals.• Supporting Exchange / M365, Teams, and SharePoint services, troubleshooting mail-flow or permissions issues affecting end users.• Automating routine tasks with PowerShell or Bash scripts, generating change logs and version-controlled runbooks.• Documenting configurations, incidents, and lessons learned in ServiceNow and unit knowledge bases for audit and turnover.• Collaborating with cybersecurity, network operations, and help-desk teams to resolve tickets and improve service delivery.• Participating in Change Advisory Boards and compliance audits, supplying evidence of controls and remediation status.If you thrive on solving complex technical problems and want to help secure critical Air Force missions in a collaborative, high-stakes environment, this position is the perfect launch-pad for your IT career!

Prior experience in military IT or Cyber career fields is mandatory for entry into this position. Experience in IT fields such as customer support, help desk, audio visual support, or other IT administrative positions is preferred.
