Summary description:
The intern will be exposed to the vision, mission, and strategy of Free Methodist Chaplain Ministries and FM Chaplains Association (FMCA) which is composed of nearly 200 members. The intern is required to be an ordained Elder in the Free Methodist Church-USA (FMCUSA) and a military Chaplain in the grade of Lieutenant Colonel with over 20 years of pastoral and chaplain experience. The duration of the internship will be for six months. The intern will work Monday – Friday (with occasional weekends if needed), but perform no more than 40 hours per week, with time off for Federal Holidays. The FMCA Budget will reimburse travel expenses, conference fees, and personal expenses associated with the internship if required. The intern will be exposed to all aspects of Free Methodist Chaplain Ministries, including chaplain and family pastoral care, grant writing, Connect Newsletter development, updating the chaplain data base, records management, recruiting and endorsement process, budget development and expense reimbursements, chaplain courses through the Center for Pastoral Formation, planning and facilitating the annual Professional Development Training for FMCA members, African and global chaplain training initiatives, FMCA Executive Committee leadership, the FMCA Constitution and By Laws, and engagement with denominational leaders.
Job description:
Lead and implement the vision, mission, and strategy of Free Methodist Chaplain Ministries and FM Chaplains Association (FMCA). Provide chaplain and family pastoral care and support; visit chaplains in their work place when possible; execute grant writing for endowment; develop monthly Connect Newsletter; update the chaplain data base, records management; recruit and endorse new chaplains/update expired endorsements; develop and monitor annual budget and expense reimbursements; facilitate chaplain courses through the Center for Pastoral Formation; coordinate African and global chaplain training initiatives; lead monthly FMCA Executive Committee meetings; plan and execute annual Professional Development Training Conferences for the Free Methodist Chaplains Association members in various regional venues; engage with Bishops, denominational leaders, and Superintendents.
The intern will primarily work from a home office with occasional travel opportunities.
