Participants will be provided opportunities to develop knowledge of program principles, concepts, regulations, practices, analytical methods, and techniques to perform multiple, and varying assignments in assigned program areas. Established policies and procedures provide guidance for most assignments but allow some discretion to select the most appropriate approach. Work and use of resources are reviewed frequently during assignments and at completion. Work supports the accomplishments of the organizational unit with occasional broader impact.
Job description:
As an Immigration Services Assistant (Office Automation) you will provide clerical operations support work in mail, records, and adjudication for a Field Office within the Field Operations Directorate. The work requires a broad range of knowledge and comprehension of immigration petitions, applications, and apprehension of form types processed by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). You will learn how to support the Adjudication Services Process by assisting Immigration Services Officers, manage files, databases, and correspondence, provide security checks, research, and analyze data, prepare reports, and provide direct service to customers. You will receive knowledge of the USCIS records program, adjudications operations, mail management, and workflow procedures. Terminal Learning Objectives:​​- Complete data entry on a variety of immigration systems. ​- Records Management by sending and receiving immigration records. ​- Supports all internal and external field office file movement and record processing. - ​Supports Immigration Services Officers (ISO) in preparing immigration records for adjudicative decisions. ​- Coordinates and conducts general administrative functions that include initiating security background checks and processing incoming and outgoing mail. ​- Utilizes standard computer programs (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite) to develop and maintain electronic files and Word processing documents to prepare various types of issue and project papers, PowerPoint presentations, and spreadsheets that concisely presents findings and recommendations. ​- Schedule applicants for interviews and naturalization ceremonies. ​- Verify accuracy of information and print certificates for naturalization. ​- Perform multiple, and varying assignments in assigned program areas.
