The MOVE Boots to Biotech program, administered by the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, partners with Genentech to offer a 12-week (480-hour) SkillBridge internship for transitioning Service Members interested in careers in pharmaceutical warehouse and logistics operations. Hosted at Genentech, Holly Springs, NC, participants receive hands-on training in cGMP compliance, warehouse operations, SAP/eWM inventory systems, material handling, shipping and receiving, automated warehouse systems (ASRS), documentation, and workplace safety.Based on an individual Skills Gap Assessment, participants may also be enrolled in the BioWork Certificate Program before or during the internship to strengthen their readiness for employment in the biopharmaceutical industry.
Job description:
Hosted by Genentech through the MOVE Boots to Biotech SkillBridge Program, this internship provides hands-on experience in pharmaceutical warehouse and logistics operations. Participants train alongside Genentech professionals to support the safe and compliant movement of materials throughout a regulated manufacturing environment.Training includes receiving, storing, staging, and shipping materials; maintaining inventory accuracy and product traceability; operating warehouse management systems and automated warehouse technologies; completing cGMP documentation; and collaborating with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams. Upon successful completion, participants will be prepared to compete for Warehouse Operator and related roles within Genentech and North Carolina's growing biopharmaceutical industry.
- This is a Department of War SkillBridge internship administered through the MOVE Boots to Biotech program as a third party provider and hosted by Genentech.- Participants remain on active duty and continue to receive military pay and benefits throughout the internship.- Successful completion of the internship does not guarantee employment; however, participants will be well-positioned to compete for full-time opportunities with Genentech and other employers within the MOVE Boots to Biotech network.- Prior pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience is not required. Military experience and transferable technical skills are highly valued.- Individual training plans may be customized based on the participant's military background, experience, and skills gap assessment.- Participants may be recommended for the BioWork Certificate Program before or during the internship to strengthen foundational knowledge of biopharmaceutical manufacturing and cGMP principles.

Applicants must:- Be approved to participate in the Department of War SkillBridge Program.- Be within 180 days of military separation or retirement.- Be able to complete the full internship at the host employer's facility.- Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.- Possess basic computer skills and the ability to learn warehouse management systems.- Be able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment.- Meet the host employer's pre-employment requirements, which may include a background check, drug screening, and physical requirements.- Based on an individual Skills Gap Assessment, participants may be recommended to complete the BioWork Certificate Program before or during the internship to strengthen their readiness for employment in the biopharmaceutical industry.
