Job description:
MAJOR DUTIES The Logistics Management Specialist (GS-11/12) performs work in planning for small and large purchases, provides oversight for ordering, receiving, transferring, excessing, reutilization, repairing, and retiring of various types of property. Identifies issues and works to provide resolution. Incumbent works with higher graded employees with CBP wireless accounts. Incumbent trains to become a purchase card holder, reviews requests and ensures funding is available. The incumbent works with higher-graded employees with providing local agency direction and facilitates the creating, accepting, modifying, and transferring of personal property records in accordance with CBP and INA directives. Coordinates activities to sub-office support staff, provides responses on problem definitions, policies and procedures and works with in evaluating and applying the content of new or modified regulations for projected impact upon CBP programs. Strives to provide an excellent customer service experience by identifying issues, deficiencies, and user capabilities and requirements. Broad knowledge of supply systems, techniques, and procedures to integrate and coordinate fleet management, manage the supply program, and facilitate personal property records in accordance with INA and CBP policies and regulations. Ability to interpret supply management directives, regulations, and policies to conduct detailed analyses and evaluate work processes, procedures, and functions to determine accuracy, make recommendations to improve operations and/or meet business objectives, and provide solutions to inventory and supply deficiencies. Broad knowledge of logistical functions, regulations, and cooperating procedures plus skill in applying fact-finding and investigative techniques by review of work procedures, instructions, records, and files to gather clear-cut factual evidence of administrative waste and abuse or compliance with regulations. Practical knowledge of computerized systems applications and of equipment techniques, capabilities, and limitations sufficient to assure the proper relationship between functional users and the automated data processing system. Skill with standard computer tools (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite) to develop and maintain various electronic files and create various reports.
