The Farm Intern position provides hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture, offering interns the opportunity to learn and apply essential farming skills. Interns will engage in daily farm operations, including soil preparation, planting, crop management, harvesting, livestock care, and farm business practices. This structured 25-week program is designed to enhance technical knowledge, practical skills, and problem-solving abilities in an agricultural setting. Interns will work closely with farm staff, gaining real-world experience in organic and sustainable farming methods.
Job description:
Assist with soil preparation, planting, watering, weeding, and harvesting crops.Participate in greenhouse management and seed propagation.Learn and apply pest and disease management techniques.Maintain and repair farm tools and equipment as needed.Engage in post-harvest handling, including washing, packing, and storage.Support poultry and bee care, including feeding and monitoring health.Contribute to farm marketing efforts such as an on-site farm stand.Maintain farm cleanliness and follow Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).Work collaboratively with farm staff and fellow interns.Complete a final project demonstrating acquired knowledge and skills.
Vets on the Farm is located on the South Hill in Spokane Washington. Approximately 25 minutes from Fairchild AFB.
