Summary description:
The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the employee lifecycle and fostering a positive workplace environment that aligns with organizational goals. Key duties include managing recruitment, onboarding, training, and employee relations while ensuring compliance with company policies and legal regulations. This role also focuses on employee engagement, benefits administration, performance management, and succession planning. The HR Manager plays a vital role in maintaining accurate records, supporting safety initiatives, and promoting team cohesion through communication and team-building activities.The position requires close collaboration with hotel leadership, the corporate People & Culture team, and external entities to ensure smooth operations, address employee needs, and uphold the organization’s ethical standards. This role involves strategic planning, policy development, and proactive problem-solving to support business objectives and enhance team member satisfaction and growth.
Job description:
Oversee the recruitment lifecycle, including job postings, candidate filtering, offer letters, and declinations.Conduct background and reference checks, and facilitate pre-employment and Day 1 onboarding.Organize and lead condensed orientation sessions to familiarize new hires with company policies and culture.Foster a high level of team member engagement through team-building activities, milestone recognition, and other bonding opportunities.Bridge management and employee relations by resolving issues, answering questions, and maintaining open lines of communication.Promote a positive and professional work environment, ensuring team members feel valued and supported.Manage and coordinate all team member development programs, including external and internal training.Regularly update training materials to reflect changes in the environment and organizational needs.Conduct monthly orientation sessions and track training records for all team members.Assist managers with individual and group training needs.Develop, revise, and communicate company and departmental policies to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.Monitor OSHA standards and workplace safety initiatives, maintaining proper documentation and promoting a safe work environment.Investigate and resolve incidents of harassment, abuse, or policy violations, ensuring a fair and thorough process.Support managers in providing performance reviews, self-assessments, and ongoing coaching for team members.Assist in succession planning by identifying internal strengths and promoting professional growth.Oversee disciplinary actions, including documentation, meetings, and follow-up.Manage the termination process, including conducting exit interviews, compiling documentation, and processing resignations.Respond to unemployment claims and attend hearings as needed.Review and approve bi-weekly payroll, process changes, and resolve payroll or benefits issues.Maintain personnel records, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and precise documentation for audits and reporting.Analyze turnover and compensation data, providing insights to leadership.Report workplace injuries and collaborate on safety measures to minimize risks.Act as a liaison between the hotel and Avocet People & Culture team to ensure alignment with corporate initiatives.Represent the hotel and People & Culture department to external organizations and the community.Uphold company standards and promote an open-door policy to encourage transparency and trust.
