The Field Service Technician’s primary purpose is to deploy to a customer location and provide the service needed to maintain, inspect, calibrate, troubleshoot, modify, repair, replace and install equipment as needed. The FST position is critical for our organization’s stability, reputation, quality of service, growth and evolving technical workforce. The successful candidate will need to build strong relationships with the Service Team and their management staff, who will provide them with the support and direction needed to be successful in servicing our customers. The objective of the program is to provide individuals with the necessary training needed to become a Field Service Technician. The training program varies widely in topic, duration, and platform. Topics will include company programs (safety, quality, policy), customer programs (site rules, safety policies, etc.) factory training (how to manuals, installation guides, troubleshooting, etc.) and state or national requirements such as DOT, MSHA, and OSHA. Scale South is looking for a passionate employee who enjoys learning new technology, can understand concepts quickly, has a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, and is able to solve tough technical problems that impact our customers. Success as a FST requires strong interpersonal skills, ability to deal with uncertainty, problem solving skills, and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (spoken and written).
Job description:
Role Responsibilities:• Work with our service team to perform Preventative Maintenance Inspections for our preferred clients.• Conduct installations and calibrations of new equipment.• Perform site visits and reviews for potential new clients.• Complete electronic work orders and test reports using our computer software and Adobe Acrobat• Perform mechanical troubleshooting and repairs of scales.• Perform low-voltage electrical troubleshooting and repairs of scales.• Work directly with customers on site to determine their repair and service needs.• Communicate with the management team regarding customer needs and how best to meet them.• Identify potential sales opportunities when working with our existing customers.• Drive our Heavy-Duty Test Truck for large scale calibrations, load tests, and weight rentals.Need to be:• Willing and able to provide your own personal hand tools and steel toe boots.• Willing and able to work occasional overtime hours and weekends, if needed.• Willing and able to be part of an On-Call rotation with fellow technicians to provide 24/7 Service availability to our clients.• Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment when required. The Field Service Technician will visit all kinds of facilities and service equipment that is critical to our client’s operations. Field Service Technicians work mostly on their own in the field to calibrate and / or repair customer’s industrial scales.
