Summary description:
The intern will gain practical knowledge in various cybersecurity frameworks, network security, firewall management, and participate in security awareness training. They will understand SIEM infrastructure, event flow, security monitoring, and have the opportunity to enhance the SIEM system. Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 Security Console, vulnerability testing, report creation, and threat feed analysis will be gained. They will understand governance principles and their application, develop an incident response procedure, and familiarize themselves with our existing incident response plan and assessment tool. In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes architecture and various authentication methods will be acquired. They will participate in enhancing customer-facing dashboards and reporting tools, join sales and customer delivery calls, and manage customer action items. During the final weeks, they will delve deeper into areas of interest, including working on projects, exploring security tools, participating in customer meetings, reviewing policies and procedures, conducting gap analyses, and setting up Microsoft 365 tenants for clients.
Job description:
We are looking for a motivated self-starter that is passionate about cyber security with a strong desire to be an integral part of the team. The Cybersecurity Internship Program is designed to offer interns business and technical exposure in core elements of the cyber security discipline including: Network Security (including firewalls and NIDS/NIPS) Identity & Access Management (including single sign-on, public key infrastructure, privileged access management) Security Operations Center (including security information & event management) Endpoint Threat Protection Technologies Cyber Incident Response Planning, Training, and Execution Governance, Risk and Compliance (including policies, standards, procedures, risk analysis) Security Awareness Threat and Vulnerability Management Security Audit and Assessment Social Engineering and Red Team Exercises Security Metrics and Reporting, Desire and ability to learn quickly, a great attitude, and good work ethic.
The intern will be provided with a laptop, dock, monitors, keyboard and mouse, camera, and headset for remote work. Most of the hands-on instruction and OJT will be through Microsoft Teams, although the opportunity for interacting on-site will present itself naturally. This is a remote work position, but candidates must live in or near Dallas, Texas or be willing to relocate if offered a permanent position.

To be considered for this internship, the candidate must be seeking an associate, bachelor’s or master’s degree in cyber security or a related discipline and have had exposure to core information security functions including network and application vulnerability testing, role-based access control (RBAC), security information and event management, and/or computer incident management. To be successful you must be proficient in Linux and have had exposure to three or more the following security technologies: Linux Bash and Python Scripting Networking Microsoft Windows (including Active Directory and Azure) Kubernetes Firewalls, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), and malware protection technology Network vulnerability testing Encryption technologies such as IPSEC SEIM technologies such as Splunk, LogRhythm or Elasticsearch Network+, CCNA, Security+ or other cyber security related certifications are desired Home office environment and Internet connectivity to enable remote work.
