This position is located in the Regulatory, Infrastructure, and Security Division under the Director, Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP), Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA),. The mission of the NNPP is to provide militarily effective nuclear propulsion plants and to ensure their safe, reliable, and long-lived operation. This opportunity will provide the intern with skills in information security and protection, classification, declassification, and policy work.- The position duty location is Washington, D.C. - The duration of this training opportunity is 60 - 120 days.
Job description:
Intern will be enrolled in a variety of in-house training courses, and potentially some external courses if they are available within the timeframe. Major in-house courses will be focused on developing intern’s knowledge base of NNPP history and nuclear engineering to better inform and increase the value of other training in the internship. Other training will be specific to a certain skill, process, or qualification, such as:-Classification and declassification practices-Records management-Information security regulations, laws, policy, and policy writing-Freedom of Information Act document reviews and processingIn addition to classroom instruction and self-study, intern will work with other information security Program Analysts and the Information Security Officer in order to build practical skills in a controlled setting. Intern will perform duplicate versions of work already complete for evaluation in order to develop learned skills in more realistic practice scenarios.
You may be required to pass an initial Drug test and random drug testing thereafter for the duration of employment.
