Job description:
A Counterintelligence Officer, regarded as a Subject Matter Expert within the DON, must have a diverse skill set to effectively carry out their duties and responsibilities. These skills include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Counterintelligence Expertise: A deep understanding of counterintelligence principles, techniques, and methodologies is crucial. This includes knowledge of intelligence collection, analysis, and dissemination, as well as counterespionage tactics. 2. Leadership and Management: Strong leadership skills are necessary for supervising a team of counterintelligence professionals. This includes the ability to motivate, mentor, and manage personnel effectively. 3. Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication is essential for conveying complex information, both verbally and in writing. This includes briefing senior officials, writing reports, and coordinating with other departments and agencies. 4. Analytical Thinking: The ability to analyze information and identify patterns or anomalies is critical for detecting and countering threats to naval operations and personnel. 5. Problem-Solving Skills: counterintelligence officers must be able to quickly assess situations, identify risks, and develop effective solutions to mitigate threats. 6. Position compensation: GS 11 - 13 Eligibility requirement: The incumbent must be a graduate of the Counterintelligence Operations Qualification Course.

1. The candidate must have a Top-Secret Security Clearance based upon a Single Scope Background Investigation and be eligible for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Prior to appointment the incumbent shall consent to and will be subject to a Counterintelligence-Scope (CI) polygraph examination. 2. This position has been identified as a Testing Designated Position (TDP). The candidate shall consent a drug test prior to appointment, and is subject to random drug testing thereafter. 3. The incumbent must be a certified DoD Counterintelligence Agent as defined by DoD policy. 4. The incumbent must be a graduate of the Counterintelligence Operations Qualification Course.
