Summary description:
As a SkillBridge participant at Steampunk, we will provide training, mentorship, and career advice while providing real-world job experience with our fellow Steampunks in a highly collaborative team made up of some of the most entrepreneurial and brilliant people in the federal contracting space. Under the framework of the Department of Defense SkillBridge Program, Steampunk hosts active duty US military members for skilled employment training for up to the final 6 months of active duty obligated service. Any rank, enlisted or officer, may apply for SkillBridge. SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from Steampunk, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members. Your unit Commander must authorize participation prior to the start of the internship.

Career Tracks: Platform/SaaS Development (Salesforce), DevSecOps (Engineering, Custom Application Development, and Cybersecurity), Data Exploitation (Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Robotic Process Automation), Operations/Project Management/Program Management, Finance, Human Resources, and Contracting
As a Steampunk SkillBridge program participant your daily responsibilities will vary depending on the current needs of Steampunk and your own career goals and interests, but you can expect to: Collaborate and innovate to build market relevant skills and be impactful to the business; Work with your Steampunk career mentor to identify and participate in market relevant training and certification programs that will set you up for success in your careerIdentify and develop projects and work items in your area of interest that will provide a practical application of your trained skillset; Work and interact with a diverse set of Steampunks to provide clarity and information about career opportunities and roles within Steampunk; Assist in development and testing of new business processes, capabilities, and, as appropriate, their supporting technologies; Continually experience new and engaging opportunities, challenging work, flexibility, career sponsorship and mentoring, and recognition for your contributions; Conduct periodic briefings and conversations with executive Steampunk leadership on what you're learning, what you're working on, and how your time at Steampunk is going with a focus on ensuring that your time is maximized for productive career skillset development; Work with your Steampunk career mentor to identify opportunities for fulltime employment within Steampunk and/or, as the situation allows, in other companies where your skillset and experience will be valued
Eligibility factors:
All Services
Has served at least 180 days on active duty. Is within 180 days of separation or retirement. Will receive an honorable discharge. Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS. Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months. Received Unit Commander approval to participate in the SkillBridge Program.
