SkillBridge Teacher Apprentice/InternThe SkillBridge Teacher Apprentice will work alongside a licensed teacher to gain hands-on experience in a K–12 classroom setting. The apprentice will observe instruction, assist with classroom activities, support student learning, and gradually participate in lesson delivery under the supervision of a mentor teacher.ResponsibilitiesObserve classroom instruction and school operationsAssist with classroom routines and student supportParticipate in lesson planning and instructional activitiesSupport small-group and whole-group instructionDemonstrate professionalism and effective communicationParticipate in feedback and reflection meetings with mentor teacherQualificationsApproved participant in the Department of Defense SkillBridge ProgramInterest in pursuing a career in educationStrong communication and collaboration skillsAbility to work effectively with students and staffSupervisionThe apprentice will be supervised and trained by a licensed teacher and supported by school administration throughout the program.Learning OutcomesUpon completion of the program, the apprentice will:Gain foundational teaching experienceDevelop classroom management and instructional skillsUnderstand lesson planning and student assessment practicesExplore pathways toward teacher licensure in Maryland
