Engineering Equipment Operator Assistant:This position reports to the Zone Lead Engineering Equipment Operator and the Zone Engineer. As an Operator Assistant you will assist the program with a variety of functions related to road maintenance and construction on the Forest Service Road System.
Job description:
This position reports to the Zone Lead Engineering Equipment Operator and the Zone Engineer. As an Operator Assistant you will:- Receive training on vehicle operation, pulling with a trailer, loading/unloading equipment safely, performing equipment checks, operating equipment, servicing equipment, and road construction/maintenance principles.- Assist the lead operator with a variety of functions related to road maintenance and construction on the National Forest Service Road System.- Transport equipment and materials to remote jobsites on Forest roads.- Handle materials and equipment with minimal supervision.- Function as safety spotter for equipment operations.- Set up Traffic Control Systems with minimal supervision.- Conduct basic engineering surveys with supervision.- Perform moderate to arduous physical labor.- Safely and efficiently operate construction equipment such as: Skidloaders, Excavators, Dozers, and backhoes on all terrain types with minimal supervision. - Work in remote locations.
Candidate is responsible for housing.
