Job Title Content Developer (CD) FLSA Classification Exempt Reports to Business Unit Director (BUD) StartGuides is a rapidly growing company with a dynamic team and an exciting product. Our innovative apps make a big difference for our country by helping military personnel and others understand how to set up, operate, and troubleshoot their equipment. We are looking for a Content Developer (CD) to join our team to create new and innovative app-based products. The CD works within a small team through a defined user-focused process to develop new products that meet customer expectations. Job Description Under the direction of an assigned Account Executive or Business Unit Director, the CD works directly with their assigned product team and customers to create succinct textual and visual content. With provided learning materials, they create engaging content that meet customer requirements, uphold company brand promise, and drive the Product Team’s success. The CD engages with customers, equipment operators, and Product team members throughout the development process to ensure deliverables meet customer/user expectations and company standards. Essential Functions• Engage customers, system experts, and external stakeholders in identifying their unique needs regarding military equipment and complex systems.• Transform complex information gathered from written materials, on-site observations, and Subject Matter Expertise meetings into a coherent, interactive learning product. • Works jointly Product Team members and (Internal and external) stakeholders during the development process.• Use company provided templates and procedures to create a cohesive and communicative product. • Follow company guidelines and standards while reviewing, testing, and providing feedback on products.• Deliver top-quality products that enhance user experience and ensure customers/users have a positive learning experience.Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Work environment Remote, work-from-home schedule. Physical demands • Must be able to communicate effectively with customers, both verbally and through writing.• Use a computer for an extended period of time, sitting or standing.• Communicate by remote collaboration platform (MS Teams), and type on keyboard. • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds and climb on and off military equipment in austere conditions. Travel requirements Monthly travel typically consisting of 5-7 days per month is required. Destinations vary and may include military installations across the United States. Required education and experience• Bachelor’s degree.• 3-5 years’ experience in technical writing/editing.• 3-5 years’ experience in visually laying out technical information. • Designing interactive course curriculum with learning objectives for various learning environments (in-person and online).• Editing/developing visual learning materials for online platforms. • Previous experience with design platforms, such as Adobe products.• Outstanding attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills.• Exceptional organizational, analytical, research and problem-solving skills.• Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, especially PowerPoint.• Demonstrated ability and strong desire to learn new systems and technology.Additional preferred experience (not required)• UX/UI design prototyping in Adobe XD, Figma, Adobe Illustrator.• Experience with technical manuals.• Experience with designing LMS platform functions and learning elements. • Previous experience with product photography is a plus. This is a remote opportunity, however, Content Developers are required to travel to Military installations roughly twice a month.
