Summary description:
The Assistant Superintendent Skillbridge Intern will have a great deal of input in the overall planning and oversight of the job. This role is intended for approved active duty military Skillbridge internship candidates. This role includes scheduling of manpower, obtaining tools and materials needed, filing permits and other documents, and even advising on budget expenditures. The Assistant Superintendent Skillbridge Intern will also provide on-site supervision of the daily workload, job site safety, receiving and storing of tools and supplies, and the reporting of all of these aspects to the project managers and Project Superintendent. Additionally, the Assistant Superintendent Skillbridge Intern is expected to work diligently to educate his or her self with the Clayco on site Superintendent and Operations Manager to take the next step to becoming a Superintendent.
Job description:
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:• Work closely with Superintendent to schedule manpower/trades and activities• Push and educate our contractors in our safety culture and policies, and enforce those policies in the field• To work with on-site Superintendent to review schedules, safety, and the technology end of being a Superintendent focus on reporting and QA/QC• Generate project weekly look ahead schedules• Perform daily safety inspections of the site and generate safety audits• Observe work in the field and compare to drawings to ensure details are installed per the drawings and specifications. JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES/BEHAVIORS:• Plans for and uses resources efficiently, always looks for ways to reduce costs, creates accurate and realistic budgets, tracks and adjusts budgets, contributes to budget planning• Works through the problem with the Subcontractor being cost and time effective• Attentive to detail and accuracy, committed to excellence, looks for improvements continuously, monitors quality levels, finds root cause of quality problems, owns/acts on quality problems• Communicates expectations and importance of safety. Follows up and ensures safety audits are completed accurately and timely. Identifies critical issues and assists in the development of improvement procedures.
Thee positions are site-based positions. Candidates will be assigned to a specific jobsite, that may or may not be close to a Clayco corporate office.
Eligibility factors:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Construction Engineering or Construction Management and/or equivalent military experience is required. • 2 to 5 years experience in construction management.• Previous construction leadership experience is a plus. • Ability to effectively supervise construction employees and to accomplish work within budget and schedule. • Able to maintain positive working relationships with all construction groups, management, owners, trades and subcontractors. • Able to balance and prioritize multiple deadlines. • Excellent communication skills. • A solid understanding of the company's Safety First philosophy and practice. • An above-average working knowledge of technology and related resources. • Very strong work ethic with the willingness to travel and/or relocate, if a full-time offer is made once the Skillbridge internship is completed. • Must be able to lift large objects that weigh at least 60 lbs. • Must be able to work in an area with loud noises on a regular basis. • Ability to walk unlevel terrain and job sites several times a day, scale scaffolding and temporary stairs measuring many stories in height. • Motivated, hardworking, team player
