The Operations Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and event setup at the Lea County Fairgrounds. This role involves performing general facility maintenance, coordinating event logistics, and ensuring that all equipment, electrical, plumbing, and groundskeeping tasks are completed efficiently. The technician will work closely with other staff, supervisors, and event organizers to provide a well-maintained and functional event space.
Job description:
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesFacility Maintenance & Repairs:Perform routine plumbing repairs, including urinals, toilets, and water lines.Conduct minor electrical maintenance such as replacing bulbs and lighting fixtures.Maintain and repair facility equipment, tools, and storage areas.Identify and report maintenance issues, coordinate with vendors as needed.Groundskeeping & Equipment Operation:Operate mowers, weed eaters, tractors, and water trucks to maintain the fairgrounds.Spray weeds, remove debris, and ensure grounds remain in top condition.Event Setup & Coordination:Set up and tear down equipment, seating, and stages for various events.Assist with lighting and sound equipment for events.Coordinate with staff, supervisors, and event organizers to understand event needs.Ensure change-over between events is handled efficiently.Customer & Vendor Interaction:Meet with event organizers to establish equipment and space requirements.Secure necessary equipment and services for events.Assist customers with any last-minute adjustments and provide on-site support.General Responsibilities:Maintain an understanding of fairgrounds operations, including electrical breakers, water valves, and facility resources.Work scheduled events as needed, including post-event cleanup.Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance skills.Regularly meet with supervisors to review performance, identify areas for growth, and discuss expectations.Required Skills & Qualifications:Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and facility maintenance.Ability to operate and maintain groundskeeping and event equipment.Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Customer service and communication skills to interact with event organizers.Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
