Project Coordinator – DoD SkillBridge ProgramPosition SummaryThe Project Coordinator – DoD SkillBridge Program is a career development opportunity for transitioning service members interested in building a civilian career in project management, operations, construction coordination, low-voltage security integration, and technical service delivery.This role provides hands-on experience supporting real-world projects from planning through closeout. The Project Coordinator will work closely with project managers, field technicians, customers, vendors, general contractors, and internal leadership to help keep projects organized, documented, scheduled, and moving forward.This is more than an administrative internship. It is a pathway into a high-demand career field where strong organization, communication, leadership, and follow-through are critical. Service members often bring these skills from their military experience, and this program helps translate those strengths into a civilian project management environment.The SkillBridge participant will gain exposure to project planning, customer communication, scheduling, purchasing, documentation, subcontractor coordination, meeting preparation, project tracking, and closeout support. This role is ideal for someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, professional, and interested in learning how technical projects are managed from start to finish.Opportunity OverviewThe Project Coordinator will support project managers and operational leaders with the coordination of low-voltage security, access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, structured cabling, and related technology projects.In this role, the participant will learn how projects move from sales handoff to field installation, customer acceptance, billing, and final closeout. They will gain experience working with scopes of work, parts lists, drawings, schedules, purchase orders, customer updates, change requests, project files, and internal task tracking.This opportunity is especially valuable for service members transitioning into civilian project management because it provides direct exposure to the tools, language, pace, and expectations of commercial project delivery. training depending on career goals and experience level.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist project managers with day-to-day coordination of low-voltage, security, access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and structured cabling projects.Support the transition of projects from sales handoff into active planning, scheduling, procurement, installation, testing, and closeout.Help maintain project files, schedules, task lists, contact lists, meeting notes, drawings, parts lists, change requests, and customer communications.Coordinate with field technicians, project managers, customers, vendors, subcontractors, and general contractors to help keep work moving forward.Assist with scheduling site walks, installations, service visits, project meetings, customer meetings, and internal coordination meetings.Track open project items, pending customer information, material status, labor needs, punch-list items, and closeout requirements.Help prepare project documentation, including meeting agendas, status updates, request-for-information notes, customer emails, and internal project summaries.Support purchasing and material coordination by helping verify parts, track orders, confirm delivery status, and communicate material readiness.Assist with reviewing scopes of work, drawings, estimates, parts lists, and project requirements to identify missing information or potential coordination issues.Help document change requests, added scope, customer decisions, schedule impacts, and follow-up actions.Support project closeout activities, including as-built documentation, completion notes, customer signoff, warranty information, and billing readiness.Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, field teams, and internal stakeholders.Learn how project budgets, labor hours, material costs, schedules, and customer expectations affect successful project delivery.Participate in hands-on mentorship and training designed to build project management confidence and prepare for long-term employment.Desired Skills and QualificationsActive-duty service member approved or eligible for participation in the DoD SkillBridge Program.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Professional communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to follow up, track open items, and keep multiple priorities organized.Comfortable working with project managers, technicians, customers, vendors, and leadership.Basic computer skills and willingness to learn project management, scheduling, documentation, and business software tools.Ability to read, organize, and interpret project-related information such as scopes of work, drawings, schedules, emails, and task lists.Strong work ethic, reliability, and desire to learn.Military experience in operations, logistics, maintenance, administration, communications, training, security, or leadership is helpful but not required.Interest in building a civilian career in project management, operations, or technical service delivery.Ideal Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate is a transitioning service member who is organized, dependable, mission-focused, and ready to learn how civilian projects are planned, coordinated, and executed.A successful Project Coordinator will be comfortable asking questions, tracking details, communicating professionally, and helping a team stay organized. This person does not need to be a technical expert but should be willing to learn the basics of low-voltage systems, project documentation, customer coordination, and field operations.This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys planning, problem-solving, communication, and helping teams accomplish the mission.
